The Beyond the Mountains Initiative is a program we have launched to support women entrepreneurs, with a special focus on female artisans from Miao villages.

Our mission is to empower these women by leveraging the cultural influence of our museum and an integrated supply chain to bring their handcrafted products beyond the mountains and into the global market. By helping them secure international orders, we aim to increase their income, boost their confidence, and support their entrepreneurial endeavors.

This initiative not only safeguards and preserves the unique cultural heritage of Miao embroidery but also introduces international consumers to these rare and exquisite crafts. Together, we can create meaningful opportunities for cultural preservation and economic empowerment while sharing the beauty of Miao artistry with the world.

Creating a long-term and sustainable impact for Miao communities is essential. We have integrated these artisans and their handcrafted products into our regular supply chain and are actively expanding this model to reach the international market.

To date, our Beyond the Mountains Initiative has made significant progress. We have started selling their products on platforms like Etsy and TK. In 2024, in collaboration with the Orange Art Center, we hosted an 8-week Miao embroidery-themed exhibition titled "Awe at the Fingertips: Art from the Miao People" in Virginia, USA. The exhibition not only showcased the beauty of Miao embroidery but also included offline sales of these products, achieving remarkable success.

We were deeply encouraged by the enthusiastic response from American audiences, who expressed great admiration for Miao embroidery. This initiative has been a powerful motivator for the community and has positively impacted women's employment and empowerment.
